Persuasive Tactics Of Jesus Vs Buddha

The study and writing about persuasion vs. media, advertising, marketing etc., is a very small niche. It is interesting to see how people try and find ways to create a new focus area to bring attention to themselves. Often the focus is good and looks at things that haven't been discussed yet. Blair Warren is phenomenal at doing that.

One of the seminal works of persuasion literature that is rarely read is a book of essays called The Power Tactics of Jesus Christ and most recently The Buddha of Persuasion. I just started reading the Buddha of Persuasion and will give you my review later, but I find it interesting that ultimately you can't study persuasion without studying religion.

Here's why.

Persuasion is about leadership and religion is our oldest examples of creating leaders and followers. Some like Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism have been very effective, others have been less effective. By understanding what the stories are that work and how they are transmitted you become much more effective at learning how to persuade the masses. There are no better mass influencers than religion.

Grab one or both of those books and start your study of persuasion and religion, I think you'll be very surprised at what you find.

Don't forget to also study Renegades of Persuasion
